Unplug the USB cable from the scanner....put on the power and re-install the scanner software only. At one point,. it will tell you to connect the USB cable. Do it. Let the installation complete itself.

It did take some research to find it. Good luck" My hp photosmart printer ALWAYS prints a test page when it is turned on. How to stop this from happening? It started printing test pages all the time after I installed a new ink cartridge. Going to printer properties/printer help does not tell how to prevent the test pages from printing.
